The name Iguazu comes from Tupi-Guarani (native language) meaning “big water”. Called Cataratas do Iguaçu in Portuguese and Cataratas del Iguazú in Spanish,It lies on the border of Argentina and Brazil and are considered a UNESCO World Natural Heritage. The Falls are part of practically virgin jungle ecosystem protected by Brazilian and Argentine national parks on either side of the Falls.
Climate / Tips
The best times to see the Falls is during the spring and fall. It is tropically hot and humid during the summer and the water level is considerably low during the winter.
